Jupiters secures social media messenger
Popular Townsville McDonald’s Crocodiles captain Russell ‘Rusty’ Hinder will trade the hoops for the spotlight as part of his player ambassador role for Jupiters.
In the lead up to each home game, Hinder will unleash everything from his personal feelings to what his teammates might be talking about in the locker room in his new social media segment Rusty’s (w)rap.
The 15-30 second video will be published every Wednesday before a home game via YouTube to the Jupiters Townsville Facebook page.
The move comes after Jupiters renewed its major sponsorship with the Crocs for a further two years, continuing its longstanding relationship of 21 seasons with the club.
Public Relations and Sponsorship Executive Isis Symes said Jupiters had been a part of the Crocs family for more than two decades and was pleased to not only recommit its partnership with the club but its association with Rusty.
“We take great pride in being able to support the Crocs and hold this sponsorship in the highest regard,” Symes said.
“Not only is Rusty a crowd favourite with the fans, he’s also loved by the entire team at Jupiters and we’re really excited at the prospect of working with him even more this season.”
Townsville Crocodiles CEO Ian Smythe said the club was grateful for Jupiters’ continued support and looked forward to another successful partnership throughout the 2012/12 season and beyond.
“Jupiters have been a key sponsor of the Townsville Crocodiles for more than 20 years now and our relationship with them continues to grow and prosper,” Smythe said.
Hinder, who sat out of the majority of last season due to injury, said he was excited to not only hit the court in front of a home crowd once more, but also to record his first ‘Rusty’s (w)rap’.
“Jupiters has been a fantastic supporter of mine for several years now and I can’t wait to be able to kick-start this new segment,” Hinder said.
“Hopefully it’ll become a YouTube sensation,” he laughed.
