New restaurant for Jupiters
From this week, customers walking through the front doors of Jupiters and into the hotel lobby will notice a new black wall.
Behind the hoarding, a major transformation will soon take place as construction begins on Jupiters' latest enhancement, a steakhouse restaurant which will feature one of the finest cuts of beef in the world on its menu.
Jupiters General Manager of Hotel Food and Beverage Marc Romanella said he was looking forward to seeing the plans come to life.
"The restaurant, costing more than $2.5 million, will be named Kōbe and is set to become Jupiters' fourth dining experience, representing a new destination in Townsville's culinary scene," Mr Romanella said.
"Kōbe, pronounced ko-bay, is actually the name of a Japanese region which raises the most sought-after class off Wagyu cattle in the world, more commonly known as Kōbe beef."
Jupiters has engaged renowned Brisbane-based designers Arkhefield who have delivered a contemporary and urbane design with an exciting colour palette which will redefine the steakhouse concept.
Located atop the very popular Aqua restaurant and with views extending across to Magnetic Island, Marc said the new restaurant would employ about 20 extra staff and would provide Townsville with a terrific lunch or dinner option.
“As well as the signature Kōbe dish, the delicious menu will offer a mix of contemporary culinary delights including cuts from North Queensland suppliers as well as from further afield. But, for those customers looking for something a little different, the menu will also feature delicious fresh seafood options. This restaurant is guaranteed to appeal to all tastes.”
Jupiters Managing Director Sean Knights said Kōbe was one of three considerable projects set to kick off in the coming months at Jupiters.
“Following Kōbe, the next project will be an expansion, re-design and re-brand of our Lobby Bar. Our intent is to create a true destinational bar and entertainment experience at Jupiters,” Mr Knights said.
“This will prove to be an exciting period as we watch our property evolve and solidify its position as Townsville’s premier entertainment destination.”
