Jupiters donates to local charity
TOWNSVILLE’S Totally and Permanently Disabled Ex Servicepersons Association (TPD) is expected to raise upwards of $2,000 this Australia Day weekend thanks largely to a cash donation from Jupiters.
As well as providing the charity with dinner and accommodation vouchers for use as raffle items, Jupiters will hand over a cheque for $500 to TPD at the Reclining Rockers concert on Saturday.
General Manager of Marketing Shalon Lawler said Jupiters provided assistance to many local businesses and organisations through fundraising and in-kind support and this donation was just an extension of Jupiters’ commitment to the community.
“Jupiters has been a proud supporter of the local community for over 26 years sponsoring charities and organisations such as TPD wherever possible,” Mrs Lawler said.
“It’s a great cause – there are many ex-servicemen and women who suffer permanent disabilities as a result of service in Australia’s defence forces and to extend our support to these people by way of donation is the least we could do.”
Mrs Lawler said that through the State Government, Jupiters also contributed one per cent of its annual profits to the Breakwater Island Casino Community Benefit Fund which assisted many groups, clubs and organisations across the region.
